Statement
The artwork I create represents what is most personal to me: my love of color, my love of music, my love of painting. A blank canvas is an empty stage suggesting infinite possibility.
Although I have been painting for years, I began my artistic career as a dancer with the New York City Ballet under the direction of George Balanchine. This early experience informed my process and style. Costume and set designs by Chagall, Roualt and Noguchi excited me; their innovation and scale fascinated me. As part of a highly-charged company of dancers, choreographers, costume designers and musicians, I witnessed how each worked in concert toward the realization of a common artistic vision. Frequent tours to Europe and Russia further expanded my appreciation of great art. It is this background that informs my work. |
